  • Scuderia Ferrari was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1947. Ferrari is the only team to have taken part in every Formula One World Championship.
  • Enzo Ferrari started his own racing team after previously building and preparing Grand Prix cars for Alfa Romeo.
  • Legend has it that Ferrari's prancing horse logo was taken from the plane of an Italian World War One fighter pilot.
  • As well as being the oldest team in the sport, Ferrari is also the most successful. The Scuderia has won 15 drivers titles and 16 constructors titles.
  • Ferrari won its first drivers title in 1952, and it's first constructors title in 1961.
  • Of the 31 world champions, 14 have driven for Ferrari at some point in their careers.
  • Ferrari did not win a single drivers championship between 1979 and 2000.
  • Enzo Ferrari controlled the team until his death in 1988.
  • Current FIA President, Jean Todt, was Ferrari team boss between 1993 and 2007. Since then, Stefano Domincalli has been in control of the Scuderia. Luca Di Montezemolo is the company president.
  • Michael Schumacher is the most successful Ferrari driver of all time having taken five championships in a row between 2000-2004.
  • Niki Lauda and Alberto Ascari are the only drivers, other than Michael Schumacher, to win more than one World Championship for Ferrari.
  • Marlboro has a sponsorship deal with Ferrari that is due to run out in 2011. The tobacco company has been the team's biggest sponsor since 1997.
  • Ferrari's Grand Prix cars are traditionally painted red as that is Italy's national racing colour.
  • Fernando Alonso joins the team for the first time in 2010. Felipe Massa started as a Ferrari test driver in 2003.
