About

The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) was the first purpose-built F1 facility in the U.S. and has quickly become a fan favorite. Its design "borrows" the best elements of other tracks: the "Esses" of Silverstone, the Hockenheim stadium, and the Istanbul Turn 8. The signature feature is the massive 133-foot climb to Turn 1, which is blind and incredibly wide, allowing for multiple racing lines.

Travel Information

Airlines: Fly into Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS).

Trains: Austin’s "MetroRail" does not go to the track.

Roads: The FM 812 and SH 130 (a high-speed toll road) are the main routes.

Local Transport: Shuttles from downtown (Republic Square) are the best way to get to COTA. Driving yourself involves expensive parking and heavy traffic.

Fan Culture, Viewing & Weather

Fan Culture: "Texan Swagger." Huge crowds, celebrity appearances, and a festival atmosphere with a major concert (past acts include Taylor Swift and Green Day) on Saturday night.

Best Viewing: Turn 1. You can see the start, the massive climb, and the descent into the Esses all from one spot.

Weather: Pleasantly warm (22°C–27°C) but can be humid. Rain is rare but spectacular when it hits the "bowl" layout.
