About

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is unique for its extreme altitude (2,200m above sea level), where the thin air means less drag but also less cooling and downforce. Originally built in 1959, the track is named after the legendary racing brothers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. Its most iconic feature is the Foro Sol stadium section, where the track cuts through a former baseball stadium filled with over 30,000 screaming fans.

Location

The circuit is located within the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in the southeast of Mexico City. The local area is a massive public park. Mexico City itself is one of the world's most populous and vibrant capitals, famous for its Zocalo (main square) and incredible street food.
Location fact
Because of the thin air, F1 cars actually produce more top speed here than at Monza, despite having huge wings.

Travel Information

Airlines: Fly into Benito Juárez International (MEX), which is very close to the circuit.

Trains: There is no intercity rail, but the Metro Line 9 (Brown Line) has three stations (Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva, Puebla) serving the track.

Roads: Viaducto Río de la Piedad is the main road, but traffic is legendary; avoid driving at all costs.

Local Transport: Use the Metro or authorized Taxis/Ubers. The Metro is incredibly cheap and the fastest way through the city's gridlock.

Fan Culture, Viewing & Weather

Fan Culture: Likely the loudest on the calendar. The "F1esta" atmosphere is electric, especially when local hero Sergio "Checo" Pérez passes by.

Best Viewing: Foro Sol is a bucket-list experience. You might miss the high-speed action, but the atmosphere when the drivers enter the stadium is unlike anything else in sports.

Weather: October/November is the dry season; sunny with temperatures around 22°C, but it can get chilly in the shade.
