About

The Baku City Circuit is a track of "mind-boggling extremes." Debuting as the European GP in 2016 before becoming the Azerbaijan GP, it features the narrowest section in F1 (only 7.6m wide) at Turn 8, where cars thread the needle through 12th-century medieval walls. Conversely, it has a 2.2km main straight where cars hit 360km/h. It is notoriously unpredictable, often producing "chaos" races with multiple safety cars and shock podiums.

Location

The circuit is located in the heart of Baku, the "City of Winds." The track winds past the UNESCO-listed Old City (Icherisheher) and the futuristic Flame Towers. The local area around the Bulvar (Caspian Sea promenade) is a bustling hub of parks and cafes.
Location fact
The circuit passes the Maiden Tower, a historic monument so ancient that its original purpose is still debated by historians.

Travel Information

Airlines: Fly into Heydar Aliyev International (GYD).

Trains: Baku Railway Station (28 May Station) is the central hub, though it is used more for regional travel than track access.

Roads: Neftchilar Avenue is the track’s main straight; expect heavy city center closures.

Local Transport: The Baku Metro is efficient and cheap (use a BakiKART). Most grandstands are within walking distance of the 28 May or Icheri Sheher stations.

Fan Culture, Viewing & Weather

Fan Culture: Known for high-energy concerts (past acts include Rihanna and Sam Smith). The vibe is "Monaco-meets-modern-Metropolis."

Best Viewing: The Icheri Sheher Grandstand (Old City) offers the most unique view in all of F1, watching cars skim the stone castle walls.

Weather: Late September is pleasant, around 20-24°C, but the coastal winds ("Khazri") can be very strong.
