Awesome victory for Sebastian Vettel in Chinese Grand Prix
Chinese Grand Prix 2009 Official Result
So Red Bull finally wins a Grand Prix in their 4th season in Formula One via a superb drive from Sebastian Vettel in soaking wet Chinese Grand Prix.
Mark Webber came home second to complete the perfect day for the Red Bull squad whose cars were easily the fastest on the grid this weekend and importantly - made mince meat of the Brawn GP cars which did so well in Australia and Malaysia previously.
Vettel showed talent and maturity this weekend which is unprecedented in the recent history of the sport. Even the boom of Lewis Hamilton coming onto the scene in 2007 isn't really a match for what Seb did over the course of the weekend.
Keeping off the radar for the early sessions, Vettel only did 11 laps combined in qualifying one, two and three compared to all his top ten rivals who averaged around 20.
He did one flying lap in Q2 and Q3 and that was good enough for pole position by 2 tenths of a second.
Vettel dominated the race and as far as the TV viewers eyes saw, made no mistakes during the race in the hardest of racing conditions.
Mark Webber will play the team game in celebrations in China but he'll naturally feel bitter that he didn't get that first win for Red Bull - just as Nick Heidfeld did after Robert Kubica won BMW's first race in Canada 2008.
The Australian is going to be hungrier than ever to be a top step podium user in the next few races and this can only be good news for the moral and motivation in the Red Bull Racing team.
We now move onto Bahrain and bizarrely still await point scoring finishes from Scuderia Ferrari!
