Australian Grand Prix Reaction & Round-up
Back in Business
What an awesome way to start a Formula 1 season!
The first so called 'twilight' Grand Prix was a great show from 5pm local time.
Jenson Button gets his second career win and will surely give him hope for more to come this year in lets face it - a brilliantly fast Brawn GP car.
Rubens Barrichello manages to make it a Brawn GP 1-2 after a late crash between Kubica and Vettel promoted him to second. And what a crash that was between Robert and Sebastian. They tangled at turn 3 in a move that the stewards have deemed Vettel's fault, and ended up both cruising into the wall at turn 5 after their cars were damaged in the initial incident.
It was a crazy atmosphere around Albert Park as those closing laps unfolded as the race finished behind the safety car. At one point Vettel looked like he was going to try and finish the race on 3 wheels - a first in my experience! It wasn't to be though.
Protest and Controversy
Formula 1 wouldn't be Formula 1 without some sort of protest or inquiry and there's been plenty of that since the race ended.
Truli has been demoted to 13th after a 25 second time penalty was slapped on his finishing time after he passed Lewis Hamilton under safety car conditions after he went of the road. Naughty...
Vettel has been given a 10 place grid penalty and apparently a $50k fine I'm hearing (to be confirmed) after the Kubica incident. It seems the German has accepted full responsibility for the chaos which lets be honest, made for a very exciting end to the race.
Next Race
So the F1 circus heads straight up to Malaysia to continue where we left off today hopefully. Can Jenson and Brawn GP make it a double?
