Lewis Hamilton crashes again: "I hope this run of bad luck is over"
“They say bad things come in threes”
Lewis Hamilton will be repeating those words over and over during his breakfast on Saturday morning as he prepares for the rest of the weekend in Suzuka.
The Brit has had another crash, his 3rd in 3 successive Grand Prix weekends, however this time it has happened during a practice session, and not a vital point scoring race.
After his first lap blunder in Monza, and then his mid race tangle with Webber in Singapore, many felt the final 4 races of the season had to be faultless by Lewis to maximise his chances of scoring points and keeping his championship ambitions alive.
At exactly the half way point of Free Practice 1, Lewis Hamilton went slightly wide at the tricky Degner 1, which resulted in him going even wider at Degner 2. He bounced through the gravel and subsequently scuffed the barrier with his front left, tearing the wish bones and the steering arm at the same time.
Afterwards he said: “I was only on my second fast lap, and was probably pushing too hard too soon. I didn’t go that wide – it wasn’t that big an off – but the gravel was very slippery at that point.”
The McLaren team got him out for FP2 but only right at the end, with only enough time for 8 laps to be completed.
Finishing on a positive note, Hamilton said “They say bad things come in threes – so after Monza, Singapore and today, I hope this run of bad luck is over and done with.”
For the huge amount of Lewis supporters watching the Japanese GP this weekend, we certainly hope his run of accidents is over and that he can take the fight to both Red Bull drivers and the inform Fernando Alonso.
