Raikkonen: seen off his Formula 1 career?

Former Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has told MTV3 Germany that "I would have the opportunity to go [back to F1] but I think I've seen off that career,” This is by no means a contract saying that he will never return to F1 but for all those Kimi fans out there (like my self) it is not looking good.

Formula 1 career

Kimi left F1 at the end of 2009 after he was replaced at Ferrari by Fernando Alonso. He was widely regarded as a lazy driver but very quick and that is proven by his career. Out of 156 starts Kimi has racked up 1 world championship, 18 race wins,62 podiums, 579 career points and 35 fastest laps.

WRC career

The 30 year old is now competing in the WRC for the Citroen junior team and is currently in 11th with 15 points. His season in the WRC has been unlucky but Raikkonen has been close to current championship leader Sebastian Loeb’s sector times in a couple of rallies but the Finn has gone on to crash out. However, Kimi seems content in rallying and will be looking to take a championship there to add to his collection.

That's very interesting. I didn't think he'd be back anytime soon but I didn't think he'd rule it out either. Here's hoping he starts having more luck in the WRC!

I say good on him, it must have been a hard decision to turn his back on Formula 1, but unlike other drivers who wre put out off top F1 teams i.e Coulthard, Fisichella, Trulli...he's not opted to drive for a lesser team....to put his kneck on the line in the rallying really shows he's a class act.

Yeah I agree with you! He has got his F1 championship let's hope he gets a WRC championship! Maybe Loeb will retire and give others a chance! I look forward to driving as Raikkonen on the WRC game that comes out this year! :D

Do you think they'll include him in GT5? Has some WRC cars I think.

I just ordered a 24" HD monitor - just need a PS3, a wheel and F1 2010/GT5!!!!

I am not sure I think GT5 is more about the cars than the drivers.

Nice! I could not decide on whether to get F1 on PS3 or Xbox but opted for xbox because my mates are getting it so have to beat them all!

I am not sure whether to get a wheel or not. There is one on Play.com which is like £40 which is not bad!

I am choking for the new codemasters F1 2010 to go on sale, there has not been a good F1 game for years.
