Jenson Button can't imagine going anywhere else after McLaren
"I'm really happy here."
Jenson wants to stay at McLaren till the end of his F1 career
2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button made a controversial move from Brawn GP to McLaren for 2010 but so far things seems to be going very well. So well infact that the 31 year old Brit has told the press, "I can't imagine going somewhere else in Formula One after McLaren. I'm really happy here." Button has a three year contract with McLaren and shows no signs of leaving F1 anytime soon so it looks like he is in it for the long haul in the silver car. " I feel very at home, strangely at home after one season. They've really welcomed me, and there's a good atmosphere." He just needs to avoid falling out with the team.
What has happened in the past?
One of the main concerns when Jenson joined the Woking based team was that pairing two drivers capable of winning World Championships together is generally not a good idea. We saw in 2007 how destructive that can be for the team and the drivers. Either Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso should have won that season's Championship but instead they finished joint second behind Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. Had McLaren had Heikki Kovalainen in 2007 then Lewis Hamilton could have already been a two time World Champion. McLaren can not let this happen again.
What does Button need to do to avoid problems?
In order for Button to maintain his place at McLaren for the long term he is going to have to remain pretty solid in terms of friendship and driving with Lewis Hamilton who has been with the team since he was 13. If he and Hamilton have a fall out then one of them has to go and it will not be Lewis. Let's face it, it is likely that both men will at some point in the future, maybe this season, have an on track collision in which each driver thinks it was the others fault. In this situation they will have to keep their cool and act maturely. Blaming each other and causing friction within the team is no good way to keep a contract in view till the end of a career.
So far the boys at McLaren have been doing a brilliant job and they both seem genuine friends. I hope they can keep it up because they are a pair of drivers that can win championships, both driver and constructors, if treated correctly and more importantly should be able to provide us with some excitement on track as their friendly rivalry heats up.

I think Lewis and Jenson are a great combo because they have different strengths, and that balance probably helps the team. Mind you - that counts...

There's always 2 sides to every garage and it's evident that JB has a strong backing behind him in that team also.
I still laugh and cringe all at the same time when I see the video of JB passing Lewis in Turkey 2010, Nicole is like screaming saying "what's going on?!", whilst one of Button's mechanics is shouting "GO ON JENSON!!!!"
There's always two sides....
