Inside Mission Control: McLarens Strategy Centre at Woking Video
We've heard from the BBC and ITV commentary over the last few years about "McLaren strategists back at base, in dark rooms, going through the numbers." Well now we can see exactly what happens at 'mission control' at the McLaren base in Woking.
This video shows Mark Williams, Head of Vehicle Engineering and his team hard at work during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, trying to get Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen further up the time sheets and improve their race strategies.
They also assess new parts on the car via the data and can make decisions on whether new upgrades have actually worked on the race track.
They picked a great Grand Prix weekend to shoot this video. Lewis Hamilton's car was completely rebuilt on the Friday night after the team found a KERS glitch in the system. Lewis then went on to take pole position and then win the race.
