Ferrari going GREEN!

The extraordinary whispers coming from Marenello, the home of Ferrari, are that an eco-friendly green livery is being lined up for a race later in 2011 Formula 1 season.

In what almost seems an unimaginable scenario, the Italian based squad are so serious about showing their green credentials that they are preparing to change their world famous scarlet colour scheme for a one off Grand Prix, which will be announced at a later date.

The story came to light when senior members of the team were overheard speaking about the bold plan after a meeting in Italy recently. In a world where big companies are under a lot of pressure to reduce their carbon front print and emissions, Ferrari feels that Formula 1 is the ultimate platform in which to show their intentions to get with the times and start acting.

My Earth Dream – Eat your heart out!

Remember in 2007 when Honda raced in their “My Earth Dream” livery. The car was so awful that the only real contribution to saving the world was its severe lack of pace – but perhaps the emissions were lower than the front runners?

My Earth Dreams slow as a banana

If and when Ferrari race their green livery, the likely hood is that they will be at the sharp end of the grid, so the press should portray them in a more positive light. But what will the Italian Tifosi make of them turning their back on the iconic red colours that we all know? Perhaps saving the world is just more important...
