Codemasters, the creators of the BAFTA winning F1 2010, have released the first of a series of developer diaries about their upcoming and much anticipated game, F1 2011. The video gives a taste of gameplay and new additions to the brand new F1 game coming this September. Among the new features mentioned in this Diary is the new use of cinematics, 16 player online and also co-operative play.

The biggest thing that excites me about these new details has to be the co-operative play. I said when 2010 came out that it would be amazing to have 2 player co-op where we could race in the same team, compete and give eachother secret, coded messages "Sean is faster than you, can you confirm you understand that message?" I think this is going to add a lot more play time to the game as I find playing on my own can get boring.

Also the addition of cinematics is fantastic. Was I the only one to feel an anti-climax after I had fought my way through the field to win and then just have a scoreboard come up and some Geordie bloke saying "Well done"? This time round I am going to take a stab in the dark and say you can create your own character, just take a look at the video your selves and you will see what I mean. This will be awesome aswell as (fingers crossed) a podium celebration.

As far as I know the 16 player online is for privately hosted online games whilst public lobbies will still have 8 online players with 8 other computer controlled drivers. This is a decision I welcome but for me the online is not always a massive part of a F1 game since everyone in the world seems intent on taking me out on corner 1.
