Bulls are back in town! Red Bull RB7 launch and testing photos

Another beauty, from Adrian Newey

I may have combined the days other launch and testing photos into the post before this, but I had to make sure the Red Bull RB7 launch photos got their own moment of glory, what a beautiful looking car!

As ever, the Red Bull looks sculpted and shaped in the most intricate detail, with every single edge contributing to what will no doubt be a slippery racing car (through the air that is!). Time will tell of course, but you get a gut feeling the RB7 will be quick from the get go.

Quick it may be – but will they get reliability right this year? It’s not one of Adrian Newey’s strong points. Not from a drawing and designing a car to win a World Championship point of view, he’s more of a speed man than anything else. But who knows, maybe Red Bull have learnt their lessons in recent years?

I love their new engine cover, its dead straight then right angles towards the bottom of the car. In a way this reminds me of the old 1995 McLaren which had a similar shape, although the McLaren had another wing on their engine cover! I can guarantee which car is relatively faster!

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber had the standard yearly photos at the launch, Vettel in his customary Red Bull beanie. Both drivers said they have patched their differences over various events in 2010. My reaction to that? NUTS! In motorsport, you can patch things up with your enemies all day, every day, but in the blink of an eye I guarantee that relationship could be back on its knees, just like it was post-Turkish Grand Prix. Obviously neither driver, or the team will want that to happen, nor foresee it happening – but this is competition at the highest level and you never know what’s round the corner.

To simply sum up the day for the RB7: Sebastian Vettel posted the fastest time, and the car ran without fault on what was classed as a shake down day only.
