Safety Car? Never heard of it.

As F1 enjoys its summer break, it of course means Formula One news has slowed down considerably! Perhaps you’re like one of the many Codemasters fans who just crave information about the up and coming game, F1 2011.

Sony have published a list of 50 questions and answers on their PlayStation Blog, which will hopefully give fans of the franchise enough new details to keep them happy for the time being.

F1 2011: Your Questions Asked (More Than 50 of Them!)

The questions all came from twitter over the last few weeks so it’s nice to see them all in one place, with more or less definitive answers.

The age old question of “will there be a safety car?” is dodged and made fun of, as it has done in many Q&A sessions with the games developers. My guess would be it won’t be in F1 2011. Better luck next year!

Hi there. Do you know if there will be improvements for the online leaderboards in F1 2011 compared to F1 2010? I mean in F1 2010, when you have reached rank 50 with 1,000,000 experience points you can't make any more progress and your score and rank stay the same. I want to know if in F1 2011, your overall online score will continue to go up as long as you play. Thanks :)

Hi Jamie. Although I don't work for Codemasters I'd take an educated guess at your question and my person view is they'll always be a limit on your online rank no matter what. Why?

Well there's only so good you can really get isn't there? If you have a rank of 50 and you race against some one else with a rank of 50, it's clear indicator you both know what you are doing. A rank of 200 Vs rank of 50 seems disproportionate yet in reality both players have A LOT of experience.

Secondly.... this is a franchise and the next game is always just round the corner. They want you to buy the next one and start building your rank / rep on that one, not just stick with F1 2010.

Just my views!

Thanks for your quick reply. I know that there will most probably be a final rank where it stops (eg 50) but it's the experience points that go with it that I'm wondering about. I hope that they continue to rise instead of stay the same when the final rank is reached. Games like WRC do this. People that have reached the final level of 100, their experiance points still go up. For me that makes it more interesting for longer and makes me want to play it more.

Yeah I guess I can understand that. Unless they are concerned at a character limit for players who play online a lot!!! haha
