British Grand Prix Driving Challenge

There are numerous challenges at Silverstone but the first twenty seconds of the lap are probably the most exciting. The first corner, Copse, is a 200kph right hander and the drivers can't see the apex on entry due to the pitlane wall. The car needs to be perfectly setup here because an unsteady machine will lose lots of time. Once through Copse the driver enters the famous Maggots-Becketts-Chapel complex that is one of the most revered stretches of track in Formula One. The car jinks into a superfast left hander, then into a fast right, anther fast left and another fast right before leading onto Hangar Straight. Drivers will pull 4G through each corner making it one of the most physically demanding parts of racetrack in the season. Eddie Irvine believed the corners were boring because the car was slowing down rather than speeding up, but few other drivers share his view. Bridge corner near the end of the lap is also a 200kph thriller but really becomes tricky in the wet when the driver will have to work out how much to slow down in order to make it.
