Hanger Straight | Silverstone Track Guide

Sitting along the Hanger Straight grandstand at Silverstone

The Hanger straight grandstand gives fans the view of Formula 1 cars at their absolute fastest around the Silverstone circuit.

The cars fly past at over 300 km/h before slamming down the brakes right in front of on the Hanger straight grandstand. The sound is incredible as the cars down shift from 7th to 4th gears. There is so much energy involved it creates an extraordinary reverberation.

The cars then sling into Stowe corner which is also extremely fast and then will then disappear from view as they head down through the Vale and into Club corner.

Because of the bridge which is half way down the Hanger straight, you only get to see the cars for about 10 seconds which is a slight drawback.

However, the braking zone on the Hanger straight is one of the best places for overtaking on the Silverstone circuit. They always dice through here on the first lap and during the race you often see slip streaming and late braking moves.
