Jaime Alguersuari | The youngest Formula 1 driver ever to compete

Jaime Alguersuari

Jaime Alguersuari

Spain Team: Scuderia Toro Rosso
F1 Debut: 2009 - Hungarian Grand Prix

When Jaime Alguersuari made his Grand Prix debut at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix he became the youngest Formula One driver of all time. Alguersuari was drafted in by Scuderia Toro Rosso at short notice last year having previously raced for Red Bull in the World Series by Renault championship.

Alguersuari performed well in 2009 considering that he was thrust into the spotlight before he was entirely ready for it. Jaime scored a best result of 14th in 2009 at the Brazilian Grand Prix, and also continued to take part in the World Series by Renault championship during non-F1 weekends.

Alguersuari won the British F3 title in 2008 so his strong form in the junior categories may be why Scuderia Toro Rosso has given him a chance to prove himself with a full season in 2010.
