Bernie Ecclestone today announced that Formula 1 will return to Mexico in 2015. The date for the Mexico Grand Prix is yet to be confirmed but we do understand it will be held at Mexico City’s Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez . The same location was used in 1992.

The people behind the Mexico Grand Prix is Tavo Hellmund who played a big part in Formula 1 being held at the Austin US Grand Prix. The other key player is Alejandro Soberon, chief executive of CIE the world’s third largest live entertainment company.

This is good news for Mexican Grand Prix drivers Esteban Gutierrez and Sergio Perez who are backed by Carlos Sim the world’s richest man.

With the addition of the Mexican Grand Prix the total number of Formula 1 races for 2015 is now 20.
