The Team
The Scuderia Toro Rosso team began its F1 career as the Minardi outfit and was purchased by Red Bull at end of the 2005 as their B-team. Red Bull are now plugging cash into the team and it is trying to make its way up the order.
In 2006 the gamble paid off to have two rookies, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed, as drivers and spent the latter part of the season challenging the two Red Bull drivers, even getting the better of them at times.
With Minardi legacy now a thing of the past, sticking with their 2006 drivers and the new Adrian Newey designed Ferrari powered STR02, things can only get better for the team in 2007.
Vitantonio Liuzzi
Vitantonio Liuzzi was never in a position to challenge podiums in his 2006 rookie season, but despite many off track moments and spins, was able to hold off team-mate Scott Speed and take the challenge to sister team Red Bull Racing.
But so far in testing this year he hasn’t shown such promise and has been out shone by Scott in all outings.
