The Team
Last season saw Red Bull Racing sacrifice itself for the sake of developing this year’s car with Adrian Newey. Now with a car designed completely by Newey and an engine supply change from Ferrari to Renault, the team is expecting a much-improved season with the RB3 in 2007.
Having shown it can stay with in the top ten on the time sheets it would be safe to say things have improved but with only one driver achieving this it would deem a title contention as unobtainable.
But a finish higher than last years seventh in the constructors’ championship is well on the cards but only if they can get consistency from both David Coulthard, Mark Webber and the RB3 in 2007.
David Coulthard
David Coulthard was an integral part of Adrian Newey’s arrival to Red Bull from McLaren last year.
David has already claimed its maiden podium finish last year in Monaco. But the lack of development in 2006 saw him finishing only fourteenth in the Drivers’ championship.
He has already proven to be the faster than his teammate and has set a fourth fastest earlier testing.
Mark Webber
Mark Webber joins this year after leaving Williams. This one time heir to Michael Schumacher had done little to live up to such expectations during his five years in F1.
Being 6ft tall is causing him some major problems fitting in the slim line car but his performance so far hasn’t shown he has the skill to give the team wings, (sorry!).
So at a new team with a fresh car he needs to take the bull by the horns, (sorry again!) and step up to the challenge.
